Change invites you for an evening of wonderful
food, great entertainment and fabulous company
as we celebrate “Building the Power of Many.”
We are delighted to host our grand opening event
in the Center’s new headquarters, in Washington’s
vibrant U Street neighborhood. Helping to light
up the evening will be members of the Center’s
Creative Collective, including R&B star Will
Downing and revered poet Dr. Sonia Sanchez.
Please join us as we present Community Change
Champion awards to five honorees who have made important contributions to social justice in America:
- Ruby Dee, Actor and Activist (Award will be accepted by Dr. Sonia Sanchez)
- Cathy Hughes, Media Pioneer
- Luz Vega-Marquis, on behalf of the Marguerite Casey Foundation
- Marie Gonzalez, DREAM Act Youth Activist
- Senator Barack Obama (Award will be accepted in absentia)
