First Play: Library Voices, Lovish

You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover and you shouldn’t judge a date by their shoes. A natural leap suggests that you shouldn’t judge a song by it’s opening lyric, right? So, “Oh Donna”, the first song on the new Library Voices record, Lovish, was chosen to hold down that spot because of it’s wonderfully scuzzy, fuzzed-out, lazy swing? The sexy bass b-section, perhaps? Or could it be the ever-singable gang vocals on the chorus?

Maybe, just maybe, it was that killer opening lyric. Perhaps one of the best Side 1, track 1s of 2015. And the album gets even better from there.

We’re streaming Lovish until Nov.5. You can pre-order the album here. The band is currently touring western Canada.
